Most people believe anyone that owns a large number of hogs is an "integrator".    Especially so if they own hogs that are fed in someone else's buildings.


IMO, that is far from being integrated.    IMO, "integrated" means that the hogs are under the same ownership from birth all the way through the packing plant up until the meat is sold.   Possibly even until it is sold through the retail meat case.

Real integrators rarely lose money raising hogs → selling pork.   To the fully integrated companies, raising hogs is merely a necessary evil to keep the packing plant running at 110% of capacity without having to bid up to get hogs.
