Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I purchased an older STX-450 Quad on a retirement auction a few years back. I had need of some repairs on my one my mid rollers. HillFarmer who posts here alerted me to Dale Booms & Sons. Dale came up with improvements for the rollers where fairly common trailer seals can be used. He has an adapter type assembly that allow one to preload the rollers. The CIH approach assumes that just tightening a nut until it bottoms out will give the proper preload. Dale's device allows one to use a torque wrench and set the preload on an individual basis.
I ordered one as well as the tools to install it. It has held up fine. If and When I need more, I plan on going this route as needed.
The kits can be a bit confusing since CIH changed some things through history. I didn't understand what I actually needed and ordered incorrectly. Dale was very good about swapping the parts I ordered for the correct ones. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. I strongly recommend working with him. If like me, you don't quite understand the various combinations possible, give him a call as it might save some shipping. He obviously knows the combinations since he makes the adapters etc. himself.
