Hooker Twp,Ne
Thank you for your service. I was 10 months later. 72 high school grad. Got on a plane in Lincoln,ne and ended near Lackland air base. Several memories that stay with me. That was timeframe of long hair. They set us in front of a long mirror with probably 10 barber chairs. Few of the guys had hair below their shoulders. When the cutters hit their hair they would just cry out loud. The barber would cut down center of their hair and go to next guy and when they quit crying the barber would go back and finish. We had one guy in our platoon whose dad was a Federal Senator from Massachusetts. Our platoon had it made compared to others. Believe it was because of that. 6 weeks there of yes sir,no sir and then to Lowery air base near Denver. I flew home one weekend and brought my car back to Denver. Had an uncle living there so weekends were spent with him. When I was dismissed and drove the 7 hour drive home the family dog was sitting at the end of the farm drive waiting for me. Mom said he had sat there all day.
