Subject: Rifle calibers and the future

Illinois
I guess I’m too old school, spent most of my life when reading a gun magazine thinking “not another caliber, do we really need another caliber, what does it do that a .243win, or a .270win, or .30-06 can’t do.” So I was kinda surprised when the 6.5 Creedmoor took off and has stuck around. So I was wondering about buying a new rifle, what are some of the calibers you would go with that you think will actually stay around. Seems like everyone is talking up 6, 6.5, 7mm prc. etc. What do you think that would be better investments as far as heirs ending up with them years from now. Appears to me already that a cartridge like the 270win is seen as the model T car of the gun world that only a few of us old foggies love. Just pondering rifle cartridges on a cold winter morning. (Need to quit watching those YouTube videos, have to love someone like Ron Spomer, Paul Harrell, etc)
