Southeast Colorado
The planetary boxes would roll in the wind when not pressurized. So the problem happened when your machine was off. It was pretty common for me to have to go find the bypassed towers every time I was turning it on...........especially the first time of the season. But surprisingly many times in season as well. But again, only when the machine was off.

EDIT: I re-read your post, and yah...........the worm drive TLs wouldn't roll. I had a half-mile pivot I bought new in 2000 that had the worm drive. I had other issues with it that I didn't care for so sold it.
