Wisconsin | I kinda like that, but I'd go 4". I was thinking if they want to go through the soffit, let them do it that way, but they're using spray foam, or canned expanding foam, in several passes so they don't bulge the cavity. And you're inspecting it before it gets covered up. Probably have to stuff fiberglass in the gap to hold the bottom of the foam.
No way I'd have it spray foamed but leave the "top of the chimney" with an air filter. Fiberglass is a good air filter, but a bad air sealer, and the wall will be a chimney if it's open on the top. | |
