I've never been a fan of putting dry on top without working it in. Covers guys here spin on their map/ potash, and covers seed in the fall, and use a Phillips harrow to cover the seed. Doesn't that contradict what we're trying to eliminate? N loss? It does do a decent job getting the covers going though. With the push for more no till..... How are you banding liquid, and how far away from the row? Id love to try strip till, but that's out of my budget to just buy and try. Last stripper I priced was 500k. Not to mention I'm always short on help.
There are very budget minded ways of banding fertilizer 3-5” deep. Yetter makes a parallel link coulter/knife combo with either dry or liquid tube, that will not break the bank whatsoever.
