ECMN | A compression test tells you very little about the condition of the oil control rings. The upper rings build the compression. Valve guides will never pass enough oil in those engine to foul the plugs. If you don’t want it to foul plugs the pistons have to come out to evaluate the cylinders. The main purpose of a wet test is to see if a low cylinder comes up or not. Compression in a low cylinder with a leaking valve does not come up nearly as much. | |
