| Land owner immediately next to mine rents 40 acres land to some friends of ours. Owner has a 20 year old pivot on the 40. I own the land next door. Removed some fence line and trees a few years ago and opened previous pasture. I have about 30 farmable acres that could be watered by the adjacent pivot. What would be a reasonable fee to pay the adjacent land owner to have his pivot cross onto my 30 acres? I suspect would pay so much each pass? 3-4 passes a year would go a long way to raise a decent crop. I would have to work a separate payment for use of motor and fuel to irrigate with the renters.
I have been just farming it as dryland. I am not allowed to put my own well because of the proximity to their pivot. Just exploring options. | |
