Mid-Michigan | I don't know. Ive read so many theories on this and every time I read one another contradicts the other. I'm a big proponent of liquid on my planter but it's only a fraction of my fertilizer needs. The rest come from dry broadcast with a spinner. Most of this is due to cost. I think a big aspect is keeping your ground in tip top shape. Soil testing is an important tool for me. If I see something dropping, I try to address it the best i can. I always cringe a little when guys are trying to trim costs (which i guess we all should be doing every year, with everything), and cutting back on fertilizer is their choice. It seems to go down much faster than it comes up. Both liquid and dry have a place on my farm as does manure, lime and gypsum. | |
