I just went and checked the .gov website.
If you are just updating your mcs150 form it would be free if you use the official gov website.
It does look like they have added a 2 factor I'd system to the site since I updated mine last year.
You need to create a profile in the login.gov website (using email and setting a password), once created, that site will send you a pin # each time you try to access the dot website which you will need.
I actually already have a login.gov profile
because I had to make one last year to be able to access the federal tax website in order to make my monthly labor withholding payments for employees.
Seems.like many sites are using 2 factor ID now to access online services. Appears most government sites will be using the login.gov

Click sign using login.gov. photo2
Creat profile on login.gov. photo 3
