The electric start tractors used four 6 volt batteries in series for 24 volts.
IIRC, year for year, the starting engines are the same between the 7xx tractors and the 8xx tractors.
Pretty sure they all share coolant between the big and little engines and use the exhaust from the starting engine to heat the intake air for the big engine.
As much as I dislike little gas engines, it is by far the best starting system for diesel engines in bitter cold weather. Especially with 1950's battery technology. | |
