Several points to consider.  Do you have a large supply of wood to cut?  Do you enjoy cutting wood?  Do you have family, friends, or kids to help/share the wood?  When I remodeled my old farm house, I looked real hard at geo.  However, my wife did not want to run the air conditioning in the summer.  So we went with an outside wood burner.  I love the heat and hot water.  We have used it for seven years.  I figured by the time the stove's life was over (15 years) I would be in my early 50s and my boys would be gone.  At that time I plan to go with a different type of boiler.  We have livestock so the everyday loading of the stove is not a problem.  What would really be nice is if you had two houses that could be hooked to one stove.  That way you would have some flexibly with leaving in the winter.
