In theory there wouldn't be any difference color wise between an Angus bull and a homozygous black Simmental. Sometimes the red gene does pop up though in either case. Breeders can make mistakes in their reporting. Accidentally pulling the wrong straw out of the semen tank or the neighbors bull jumped the fence would be just a couple of examples how mistakes can be made.
