I've done them both ways weights or no weights. I agree weights should be removed. But even with them removed it's still tipsy after taking the trans off. Good idea with forklift. The first tractor I split was a super 90 massey. The front flipped on me while pushing apart. Can never be too safe. I like the forklift idea.
