Subject: RE: Historical carry in corn

north central Ohio
So the farm I share crop the landlord received around $3.65 cash mid October for corn. Just started making my first sales of old crop at $4.50 and $4.60 cash. Last year however my highest priced corn was sold at end of harvest in what I didn't have room for so it didn't pay well last year for me. We make good money drying our own grain too vs what the elevator charges plus shrink. As an average it works out pretty well but some years it doesn't. I would just look at your average fall cash price and what could get now cash over the years and see it pays to store to at least January. The need to dry grain is the big reason why we have storage.
