Yep. We cut a break eight dozer blades wide on the Kincaid Fire and it rolled over like it wasn’t there.
The only luck we've really had controlling grass fires when it's dry and windy is back-burns. Figure out how far ahead you need to go to get enough burned before the fire gets there and let er' eat. We've literally had to follow along with trucks spraying the line to keep it from advancing the wrong way. Sometimes you have to come at it from the side, against the wind.
Obviously, this technique would be useless in a residential area, unless you wanted to burn more houses down. |
