SE SD | I live 20 miles from them. Have never noticed them pushing me to do or buy anything. Usually they explain what they've done, why it did or didn't work, and leave it at that. Yeah, it gets repetitive. To see the newer data you need to go to meetings and to their field day and see the trials. I can see how in our area their information would be more useful than to someone with much lighter soils or more rainfall or completely different climate.
I notice they don't talk too much into the carbon side of things or regenerative agriculture, not that they don't, but those are hot topics with not a lot of agreement. I would like more information on feeding soil biology and they could mix things up a bit on their show. But without them I never would have learned anything about soil tests, basic agronomy, and where a guy should actually start to just get better yields. Dad always fertilized 150-60-40. So that's what I did. Turns out, that's all I was getting for yield on a certain field. Did some sampling, and there was almost nothing in that soil. Doing a fairly aggressive build program now, and have a plan that I myself came up with. Thanks to their free knowledge, I can at least begin to improve the soil and make some profit. | |
