SCWisconsin | So I don't know Sh$t about what the best semi is. 10 years ago I got to the point I thought I needed one. So I asked a few local guys. I ended up with a wimpy Volvo auto shift with a 42ft Merrit that somehow manages to yank an occasional load 100,000 plus (oops that darn buggy idiot), that sat overnight on the field road. (Nice!!).
I do like the truck. 1500 miles per year. I will say however, with the brand truck I chose, make sure your shop of choice has software. I'm sure true for all makes.
This tractor I think has somewhere between 350 and 400HP, and in my opinion has lots of torque. Ya, I'm down to 35 in the slow lane on way to elevator, but for me, one hill, and the rest is gravy. Rides nice, full, or empty (air everything / tractor trailer).
Auto shift: mash the gas, and let it do it's thing. So for me, never owning, or operating one, without a CDL, it's the best semi.
Lastly, the dealer I purchased it from, re-purposes day cab fleet rucks. Has chrome wheels, and aluminums on trailer, so as my one buddy told me; you'll even look good when your broke down on the side of the road! | |
