Western Oregon | All the old mils, both grind stone and lumber mills are all gone here. Near the river, there is still some of the 24" wood pipe left to see in a small park. It fed 2 saw mills. They would put up a small wood dam in the spring. The pipe was above the falls and there was a drop flume that fed a electric generator that fed the mill later on. The town is right below the hills and the water system in use today is all gravity feed, it has generators in those pipes that power the water plant and the excess is used in town. Also has a fire system with a generator in the piping, pressure valve to hold pressure but water is released after the fire hydrants to water the school ball fields and aerates a city fishing pond, before it returns to the river....James
