Subject: RE: New Mexico ton mile tax.

I appears to be the state.
They sent a letter threating to put a tax lien.
They requested payment a couple months ago and we sent the death certificate and they said that was the end of it.
Where did you find the 3 year statue of limitations?
OH, and Thanks for the help.
I would just ignore them but I would hate for them to put a lien on the folks that bought the business.
Thanks Poverty. I never thought I would find it on Google. I did finally find it.
I don't know how you found it so fast.
We will see how we come out.
I found a case where the tax payer followed the instructions of the New Mexico tax department, but was still declared negligent.
Another interesting thing I found out. If you buy a business from someone that did business in or through new Mexico, one needs to file( I think) what they call a clearance with them.
If the new owners had done that, they would be in the clear, no matter what.
Of course if they had opened their own accounts, as the contract specified, they would be in the clear also.
