| An estate sold its business several years ago and the estate was closed out.
New Mexico sent a bill for the ton mile tax they claim was due September of 2017.
We sent them the appropriate paperwork showing the estate was closed and the owner at that time has been deceased.
They agreed the matter is closed.
The new owners of the business just got a collection letter.
I am thinking that
1. The estate was properly closed several years ago.
2. How long is the statute of limitations on this tax?
