West Central Iowa | I should mention that the hydraulic oil should be at least some what warmed up when making this test, as cold, thick oil can mask an excessive leak. The best way to monitor leakage is to put a lube pressure gauge on the test port and then warm the hyd oil up with a jumper hose in the SCV and the hyd oil cooler blocked with cardboard. Then try various hydraulic functions (mfwd, PTO, diff lock) on and off while watching the lube pressure. There is also a way you can engage individual transmission clutch and brake elements by going to the correct address. This is how you check for leaks in the transmission.
You really need the service manuals to know how to do these test if you are not familiar with them.
Also, you can monitor the actual hyd temp on the RH display by pushing 2 of the buttons at the same time. Sorry, but I don't remember which buttons but it should be in the owner's manual.
And your problem could be something entirely than a pressure leak, but the MFWD piston seal leak is one of the more common ones. | |
