| I would assume the advantage is mostly due to doubles with the old planter since the stand was “better”. I’ve also seen too aggressive closing wheels cause a yield loss.
I didn’t see where they talked about any of that though. I would love to see a pic of the stand and some roots.
I’m still planting wheat with a single disk, though I own 2 double disk drills. I used to believe the single disk had an advantage because the plants end up in a fanned out row about 2” wide, but seems my wheat doesn’t look that great the last 2 years beside some neighbors who I know don’t put down as much fertilizer. I think the press wheels on most DD drills are where it’s at. 10” drills are supposed to have an advantage in drought, but I’m not seeing it, I’d love to have a 6” | |
