| A bit of all of the above. Taking a good photo can certainly help a lot, but generally I'll break out the calipers and other tools to start measuring and replicating the part in a CAD program. That CAD model gets exported as a mesh file that is brought into what's called a Slicer program that has all the printer settings and generates the G-code. Then I might do a round or two of iterations printing parts with very little infill to reduce plastic waste and print time while I dial in all the dimensions. | |
