Prior boss had a story of cutting a multi-pair phone line. He'd been told by the locator that he'd likely hit it, but that it was a dead, abandoned line. It wasn't. Within a very short time of trenching through it (to install an electric line), vehicles were pulling into the lot. That line ran a good part of the IL State Lottery.
