They can say what they want but my high tech makes me money, row clutches, variable rate, more even depth especially in no till. In perfect conditions with even soil types the difference could be less but it made a difference for me. The tech you mention is valuable, and beneficial, no doubt, but pretty standard issue today. And planters equipped as such are far from expensive. The “high tech” planters are going to have the ability to plant at 10 mph,with no loss in accuracy. This requires hydraulic down force, electric meters, and high speed delivery systems. The price of admission to join this club jumps dramatically. I watched a nice Deere 16 row 1770 NT, 2016 model, CCS and all the upgrades you mentioned sell last week on a farm sale for $65,000. When you can buy that much planter for that kind of money, pretty silly to still be using 30-40 year old planters.
