NW Iowa | There are various fuel tank putties available you can plaster to the outside of the tank. I have done this once in my life on a steel gas tank so I certainly am not an expert. The putty I got was crumbly as all get out so out of frustration I moistened it with gasoline and it became soft and pliable and stuck to the tank like glue. You are working with diesel and plastic, that’s a different animal. About all you can do is read labels on tank repair products. Pouring something in the tank to seal it would plug filters and possibly damage the injection pump. It’s too bad you would have to go to the work of removing the engine to get the tank out. | |
