10 years ago or so I got my first pivot with plastic goosenecks. The first time I had to climb up on top of it and work my way out onto the span to work on something...........I damn near fell off when I yanked the gooseneck out of the pipe! I was used to using the galvanized steel ones as handles. Word of warning........Don't do that with the plastic ones!!!
I wouldn’t recommend doing that with the steel ones either, especially if they’re getting rusty, which they probably are if you’re finding yourself climbing out on the machine to deal with sprinkler issues.
