Subject: RE: row track Steger tractors ? Good/Bad

N E Iowa
I ran one for 11 years on a 32 row planter. It had 18" tracks. We sidedressed Anhydrous, Cultivated, and injected dry fertilizer with it.
We did do a fair amount of road travel with 3 pt implements on. The 450 Row track that I had was too heavy with 3 pt equipment on the road.
We had some track issues and some boogie wheel issues. My opinion is that is too heavy of a tractor for 18" tracks.
My brother still has his row track and we haven't had any trouble with the boogies or the tracks since we quit using 3pt equipment with it. We probably drive slower now also.

I really liked that it wasn't creating a pinch row. It handled the planter excellent.

We have since gone to 2 24 row planters and I now run a Magnum half track. I love ride and handling of this tractor. It has 24" Tracks.
We now sidedress with 32% and use a 250 Magnum for that. We don't cultivate any more.
