The biggest reason she wants it is because of allergies. The theory is the dust would be down basement/outside.
She now runs a rainbow sweeper with a water tank on to eliminate the dust. But she hates washing the dirty sludgy tank and thought a central vac system would help.
If dust is problem, put in one (I have two) high quality air purifiers. The filters (HEPA) are not cheap, but the dust is almost non-existent. I have Alen's, here is a report on several.
