Subject: Cotton post below ?

North Carolina
I was reading post below about seed prices, I had some very thin cotton on a 30-ac field this year and still made 350 to 450. My question to cut seed cost has anyone tried hill drop 2 at 14 to 18" on 38" rows. I was told if you could step from plant to plant in any direction you still could make a decent crop. I don't want to give up on cotton because around here the deer still don't bother it as bad as they do beans. But i agree something has got to give on seed priced. Seed salesman still trying to get us to drop 38k. Hs crazy as heck, he doesn't haft to go talk to the bank like we do. Thought about going to skip row 2 in 1 out, but don't have the nerve to look at those wide middles. I would think thinner in the row would be better, and 2 in each drop would help push out. What do y'all think? I also thought about blending conventual seed 50/50 with GMO seed. Running pop to 40 k solid in the row to establish stand then at about 3 weeks make a pass with RU to thin stand. Not sure about the Cost of the seed but it may be something to look in to. Just trying to think outside of box. LOL The main reason for planting thick is to establish stand, if 3 or 4 seed dropped in same hole, at least 2 of them act as a weed, just as well use cheaper seed to be the pusher.
