Wisconsin | Depending on the size of the scale deposits, it might be extremely difficult to clean. Easier with an electric, when the element burn out, you have a nice big hole to work through.
I like to use a shop vac with a piece of 1/2" pex. First drain with a hot water faucet on so the water runs, and jam the outlet to keep it clear and flowing, then use the shop vac jamming through the pile of scale. You'll have to learn the technique the works best for the size you have.
I would not use acid. In effective and will eat through the water heater. | |
