I knew of a trucking company that most of the trucks they operate are tri axle dump trucks. Back in the day most of the large straight trucks run Detroit Diesels, 671's, some were the 871's. This company ordered all there trucks with Allison 5 speeds and then they cut the drive shaft and added Browning 4 speeds behind them. That way they had all the gears they needed, it worked. Most of the drivers were women I might add. | |
