NW Iowa | Make sure you have a nipco heater handy. Not a crappy calf hut or shop floor.
If they are chilled, you need to really put the heat to them.
If it's below zero, you won't kick them out after a day.
Could be 3-5 days.
Make sure the calves can get out of the weather. The cows can stand outside.
Been calving in Jan or Feb for 24yrs.
Knock on wood i've only lost a couple, but i've had a few ears nipped.
Biggest concern is missing one by 15 min in neg 15-20 degrees | |
