North Central Kansas
We had good rain this fall. Came to late for the crops. For me the drought started fall of 2021. Not on all my acres but on a 1/3. Have collected crop insurance every year since 2021. Prior to that I had only randomly collected any in my 36 year career. In 2022 I collected on every crop on every field. Last year it was all the beans, wheat and milo. Corn was good due to location of fields and timing of rain. Didn't get a lot of rain but it came exactly when the corn needed it. Enough it gave me hope that I was going to have a bean and milo crop only to have that crushed.

We have put in several solar wells for our cowherd. Ponds are no longer reliable water sources. They are dropping irrigation wells all around me. Apparently our area is different and we won't run out of water. At least that is what the Kansas Water office says. When my water well I water my cows and run my house off of goes dry I will not be happy.
