| Hard to get a feel for what is ahead and the time frame. Up until a month ago I would of said the cow herd will continue to contract or at least not gain much in the way of numbers. But bred cow and heifer prices lately show that at least some people think there will be money in cows for awhile which is usually the beginning of the end of higher prices. Maybe it was just a end of year tax deal though that isn't what it once was. The mix of steers and heifers going on feed will tell the tale. If you see heifer numbers drop well into the 30% range look out. | |
