The bottom line is that in the US the birth rates are much lower since the 80's. It now is coming to light. I remember the days of large farm families where you could recruit from. That has all but disappeared.The other factor is that Americans have done a good job of telling out kids to get an education or s a skill so you won't have to do stoop labor. The ones who didn't are unmotivated workers. Most immigrants are motivated workers are they are happy to better their life. Farms have gotten bigger because margins keep getting tighter which leads more more efficient operations no different than any other industry in a capitalistic society.. Bottom line is that the work has to get done.
