I don't remember the details, but I was talked out of putting an "overshot" in the roof of my shed.

I believe the idea was that forcing hot moisture laden air to make a turn or do anything other than an unobstructed "up and out" would cause it to condense and create a problem.

I can only speculate, but I also believe we get enough spring and summer wind and rainstorms that would negate any benefit of having an overhang on the roof opening.
