east central Illinois | I drive a school bus for a small district. The change in the kids, and parents as well,in the last 10 to 15 yrs is frightening. Its our job as parents to teach our kids morals, manners, basic social skills and respect for others. When i was a child i was expected to get decent grades and stay out of trouble. If the school sent home any note that there was a problem with my behavior at school I knew I was dead meat. My parents made no excuses for my behavior or tried to blame it off on other kids. Any concequences at home was much worse that what was dished out at school. Kids now have nothing to do with their time, and that's a parents fault. A 3 acre yard and a push mower would do wonders for several that I haul. Now we are required to get them to school in time that they can be served breakfast. Well shoot,,,,, lets just keep them an extra hour after school,,see that their homework is completed and feed them supper as well so that mom and dad don't have to do that either. geeeze. | |
