In my barn visits we found more new builds going to perimeter feed on dairy barns, biggestbenefitis getting stalls away from outer walls to preventstall freezing. Another benefit is with milking robots, you can put 4 pens worth of robots in one robot room, slick set up.

Most dairy barns are designed to close up to tight frozen manure, I feel you loose some valuable ventilation in these scenarios. I also notice most dairy guys like a covered feed alley, we are planning moving that way as it will allow us to control the environment better.

Seems most barns we visited were running fans to some extent as well.
