The sunlight is important but air movement for ventilation is more important. Monoslopes are supposed to move more air. This helps cattle and should also help keep the pack drier from respiration. Now the first building shown is totally closed in on the back. I would not suggest doing this as it does not provide air change in the building. I couldn't tell if there were any doors in the back wall. Luckily here where I live it doesn't get to 40 below either and the humidity isn't as high in the summer up north either.
