Vfd pump just uses an expansion tank with a pressure sensor to maintain line pressure. His old tank would work as an expansion tank and he could just drop in a vfd pump and be done. A quality vfd pump and controller will cost considerably more than a traditional pump but he wouldn’t have to mess with the pressure tank that way.
