Sounds like you blamed them even if you said you didn't. Sound like weather was against you, knowing that, maybe you should have been proactive. I know a guy that backgrounds a lot of calves from several sale barns and multiple sources. He keeps track year to year where calves come from and how they do when he gets them home and bids accordingly next year. You can't just walk in a salebarn and buy calves willynilly and expect them to take off at warp speed. It actually sounds like your results are about what most of us would expect. Backgrounding is kind of an art form, some can do it (requires lots of attention to little details) some can't. I'll put me in the maybe can't side. Cow/calf, I don't miss many tricks, taking care of a bunch of comingled calves, no thanks from here


IF, and that is a big IF a vet had a vaccine made up mainly for calves out of one barn it would seem like they own a large part of this.
