Alright I suppose I will talk to grandpa alone about me and my brother possibly taking the farm over. I got a few more question on this whole topic.
I will ask him to lunch here in the next couple of days once I get a plan down. What should be said in this conversation? I do like what some of you said that I should talk to him alone first express my worries and concerns about the future of the farm and where Im at in it. Then incorporate the rest of the family. Im 99 percent sure it is in my best interest to keep family included at least some in this situation for the main fact at least my uncle may see it as Im going to try and take a chunk of his inheritance away from him which Im not trying to do at all.
I do feel if this is all worked out right it should be a smooth process where everyone can get along in the end. But Truly the only trump card me and my brother have in this whole situation is we do everything and if we were to both leave it would put a lot of stress on this whole situation. Im pretty sure if we did this it would show My grandpa just how much we are doing. But Im only going to use this if It does not go the way I hope it goes.
Thankfully if I wanted to leave the farm and still farm Ive gotten several offers from other farms that would love to have me and my little brother being were young and willing to work.
I also have a brother in law that is in the trades and he's told me he could help get me started out. But Id like to give this farming thing a try for at least a couple years.
If you and your brother are the only ones doing the day to day chores what does your dad do to earn a check?
I wouldn’t use the phrase “ take over the farm” on your grandfather. |
