Melancthon, Ontario | Becoming a tech means suffering through the apprenticeship years which in my opinion are the main reason we have a tech shortage. As someone who was an electrical apprentice for 5 years, it stinks and i feel mechanic apprenticeships are worse due to tool cost. Even good techs only get 40, when being charged out at 4 times that. (Construction tradesmen tend to get billed out around double what they're wage is)
Starting pay for cash crop farm help is around that lower mid 20's and tops out around 30. Theres only so many dollars to go around. I paid a full time guy with a truck license 30 and my accountant was baffled why I would pay someone more than I make from the business. (Owner gets asset appreciation so therefore are better paid was my response).
I am making changes to our farm in a big way, and if you decide to walk away completely and are interested in being a canadian i have an opportunity to discuss with you. Not getting in to detail here, the email in my profile is good. | |
