I have said then poorest beef farmers are ex-dairymen
Can you elaborate any on this without being negative towards dairymen?
Not slamming dairymen, most are very good at what they do. there were 2 brothers-in-laws who dairfarmed near us, both very successful had very nice farms and as they got older they quick milking cows and the one bought some Angus cows. He put them out on pasture in the spring one bloated/died so he locked them down on a dry lot and fed them all stored feed like he had fed his Hostiens ,after that he decided it was not working so they got sold also. Dairy farmers many times do not believe cattle can survive without housing, or grain, and as my wife says they do/should not need someone to hold their little hoof. Hope this is not too negative, but as the small dairy farm disappeared here in WI many small beef operations were started and many of these cows have not worked to support themselves a day in their life, farmers do not realize that it takes a different mentality and different handling facilities most of the time to make an operation efficient and enjoyable experience.
