A file and a vise work great for touchups. You want to file slight uphill angle with the tooth and about 30 degree to the bar dont file into the sharp edge of the tooth file through the tooth in the direction the cutting edge is pointing.

When you really screw up a chain by hitting something you will need a grinder to bring it all back. Hf grinders work just fine if you are careful with them.
