It seems like guys are definitely spending their calf checks. I couldn't believe what a couple western ranches were paying for bred heifers the last few weeks. They weren't black, they weren't close, and they were filling pots at sales that have never filled pots before.

I'm not sure what this is a sign of, but you can buy well bred halter and crossover type cattle ready to calve for the same or less than commercial guys are paying for commodity cattle of the same stage.
