Yorktown, TX | Tim is correct. The way the school system works, the Superintendent is only as strong as the board allows them to be. Some boards hire puppets, others hire fall guys (or gals), and others support the people they hire. My mother is lucky to be in the latter of those three examples (she even made national news a couple of years ago for a decision she made and the board supported). If a sup. makes a decision and the board does not support it, they might as well start looking for a new job. Mrs. Seabee is correct about the problems coming from home, but they can't be dealt with at school if the sup. and board are on the same page.
